"Beasts at a Waterhole" portrays a man who has gone down to the river to collect water in his kettle, but finds himself soaked after a dog that can actually walk on water tricks him into thinking it is a solid surface. The large dog in the background is the disgruntled observer, and beast of burden to the man, who has adorned him in sweater and rope. Both man and sweatered dog are in a state of dissatisfaction, while the fluffy dog on the right is happy with his successfull trickery. A perfect future for the man would allow him to walk on water, too.
"Let them eat Broccolli" is utopic (as far as I'm concerned). I would be happy to walk through the woods and discover brocolli growing off of the trees... even after summer had ended. The dog on the toadstool is a guardian angel who has led the man to the prize. All is well in the utopia of plentiful broccolli and miniature dog angels.
"I wanna fly too" is an unfortunate scenario for both characters. The owl is sitting next to a birdhouse with doors that are too small for it to enter, while a girl is trying to get at the owl so that she may fly away from the birdhouse. She will have to work up the courage to jump onto the owl's back, and even then it may fly away before she can reach it. A perfect future for her would be to fly on her own.
